Boston Marathon - Patriots Day and Our Armed Forces

Boston Marathon Army Runners
The Boston Marathon was full of energy and over 26,000 amazing people started the race to test themselves against  26 miles of pavement.  Mixed in with the Nike Swooshes, New Balance Sneakers and Adidas Gear were several men running the race in something very non traditional.  These few were sending a message to on lookers about what they stood and a test of courage far above what many realized.  These runners were dressed in full army fatigues including boots and pack running right along side runners with the latest sporting equipment.    Forget being ultra light these troopers made a statement of the "Army of One" loud and clear by carrying their gear and running the 26 miles to the finish line.   These Army runners most likely ran for a cause but I was unable to find out which charity.  Thinking nothing of it I continued my walk around marathon central.

About a block away on the corner of Newbury Street & Exeter Street was a small green pick up truck towing a memorial to our troops that had fallen in combat.  The memorial was papered with letters home from soldiers KIA, photographs and small tokens of memories.   This mobile memorial made me think of the Army runners in the race and hoped that they ran for a cause like carepacks.org.  This organization is about supporting our troops over seas.

CarePackage.orgTheir  mission : CarePacks is a non-profit organization—staffed and managed entirely by volunteers—that is dedicated to sending care packages to US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Founded in 2004, CarePacks' goal is to provide these soldiers with supplies to help improve their morale, mental health, and quality of life, and to remind soldiers that they are remembered by people “back home.

The importance of supporting our troops needs to be a solid message from all Americans.   A solider does not know the cause, does not pick where they are deployed but they have chosen to serve the USA and our way of life. They protect and stand for the freedoms that many of us take for granted daily.   Support our troops and thank a soldier for the service.

We have identified the iPod as one of the small tools that helps keep morale and gives a sense of home to deployed troops.  This small device holds pictures, videos, voice recordings and lastly music in a small compact media.  The problem that most have is keeping it safe from the elements.  Troops in Iraq or Afghanistan have troubles keeping sand from their gear and other environments suffer from other conditions like moisture or dirt.  A sound case can help protect your iPod and memories.   Most of the cases we have shipped to the troops have been a hard style waterproof case.   These cases are ultra protective against all the elements and there is full access to the device at all times.  Recently OtterBox Armor Series cases have been shipping out more then most of the other brands but there are some that prefer a soft style case especially those that are looking for solutions for older iPods.
