Helpful and Fun iPhone / iTouch Applications
iPhone applications have been changing the way we use these little devices. My iPhone is loaded with 15 or so applications at all times. I search iTunes weekly for more fun toys ranging from games to simple utilities that I find helpful for daily use. I have already downloaded weather applications, a Disney game that has you run around like a hamster in a ball and some voice recognition software. The addiction continues as each time I visit iTunes something catches my eye and I load it on my iPhone for a proverbial “test drive”. The nice part about the iPhone is that applications are easily added or removed if they do not work as expected. I have played with countless programs some free of charge and others for a reasonable iTunes price. Do not be fooled as some of the free applications have become my personal favorites so it’s best to explore and experiment.
The purpose of this article is to post some of the more useful or fun applications I have found in the hopes they can better your iPhone experience. If you have found helpful applications please comment below and let our readers know where they can find some of these great tools.
My Favorites:
My Favorites:
- Urban Spoon: Helps find restaurants in urban areas and rate them based on your dinning experience. The application even has a fun "shake" feature somewhat like a slot machine which when activated will pick a restaurant for you to dine at randomly. right now its available in 64 states plus some countries abroad. If your a foody or have too many places to choose from this application could help
- Woot!: Discounts on well just about everything. The catch is that each day brings new offers and when the sell out they are GONE. So act quick .. find your product get your deal . Woot!
- Easy Writer - Now your keyboard can write emails horizontal rather than vertical which creates a much larger typing area.
- Tap4Taxi - Helps find taxi cabs in most urban cities in the US. It automatically determines your location then gives you the phone number to call for your ride
- The Weather Channel application has been one of my favoriates. I am a huge weather nut and instant local weather is key for finding out what the day brings. This one touch solution is quick and the Weather Channel's accuracy is unbeatable. It offers full report by hour or you can use the radar option to see the local area. Top notch application.
- iHandy Level has been the latest download to my iPhone. This actually is an accurate level and I have used it to help level pictures and shelving in my apartment.
- FaceBook is all the rage and quiet the addiction. Now you can add it to your iPhone and have an instant mobile facebook moment. Post pictures from your iPhone instantly, check your messages and keep track of all your friends.
- GadgetTrack is one of the best applications to put onto your phone. This simple to use application allows you to register your phone and then track it. So if you leave or have your iPhone stolen you can determine where it is by simply logging on to the website. East to use and its FREE
- Watchmen Application - For all of you comic book junkies the Watchmen application is a great source of infomation and short clips about the new movie just released.
- Hear Planet is a free virtual tour guide pretty much whereever your iphone and you travel. HearPlanet delivers location information that really speaks to you. It's like having a professional tour guide always by your side.
